"Dressing well is a form of good manners" - Tom Ford

As Men, we often find stuck between 'a rainbow and sunshine' when it comes to smart-casual dressing. It can be difficult to find the right balance between smart and casual especially when shopping online or in stores. Rails are usually filled with either shorts and hoodies or suit and ties but what if we are simply going to a smart casual event or on a date that requires a look suitable to the event?

Style is, of course, individual to each person but as stated by Mr. Tom M Ford "An ideal answer for smart-casual is a blazer, white shirt, neat jeans, and brown loafers. Pretty much anything smarter than a tracksuit, but less formal than a suit."

I think its safe to say that it is better to be overdressed than under-dressed when styling for an event that requires a smart-casual look however, there is a balance.

1. THE I GOT A DATE AND WON'T BE FASHIONABLY LATE

If you're heading out on the romantic trail, you want your outfit to be comfortable yet stylish. The type of outfit that will make your date weak by just taking one look at you! Denim suits are easy to style but you want to be careful about the style of the denim suit. This Issey Miyake Navy Denim Wrinkle two-piece set is a Long sleeve garment-pleated non-stretch denim jacket in navy. Spread collar. Button closure at front. Patch pockets at chest. Paired with a pair of Gucci loafers keeps the look simple, sophisticated, and fresh at the same time.

2. THE ART GALLERY

If you're heading out to indulge in some art then you want to dress down your look a bit. By wearing a plain t-shirt, loosely fitted jeans, and adding an oversized coat like the smart Issey Miyake Men Blue Wrinkle Coat, matched with a pair of Issey Miyake Off-White Canvas NY Sneakers, will give you an "I didn't make an effort but I did make an effort" kind of vibe. The perfect look for a relaxed environment like the art exhibition.

3. THE AFTER-WORK GET TOGETHER

If your usual work attire is a shirt and tie, you may want to hang up both before heading out to your after-work dinner. You don't want to come across as the man who is always in 'work-mode.' The way we dress, speaks volumes about us. By throwing on a roll-neck sweater underneath a dark-colored suit like the Black Hugo Pinstripe Fargo91 Suit, with a pair of Monks Newton loafers, creates a suave look. If you want to add a touch of coolness into the mix you can add accessories to enhance your look.

4. THE PRIVATE MEMBERS

One of the main house rules of private members clubs is the dress code being smart-casual. Every member knows that turning up in a suit and tie is a NO GO! if you heading to your member's club after work and your work requires you to wear a suit, you definitely want to go home and change your outfit first before rocking up to the club. We recommend going neat and sleek by styling in a simple crew neck jumper from Ballantyne, Max slim fit jeans from Acne Studios, and a pair of comfortable Squalo sneakers from Versace.
